1. Introduction
In the present time we see technology growing at an unprecedented rate, and within this we are seeing a large-scale transformation thanks to artificial intelligence [1], [2].
Although AI makes our work more efficient and quick, it is also bringing in what is known as “job displacement” [1]. Many companies are now adopting machines and software solutions, which in turn see them reduce their human labor force, especially in entry-level positions [2].
This is, in turn, increasing entry-level unemployment, which is a great worry for students and recent graduates just at the beginning of their careers.

AI job displacement is a trend in which machines and computer programs are taking over jobs that used to be performed by people [3].
For example, today we see robots that answer customer issues and software that writes basic code or handles data. Also, reports see that companies do not require hiring as many new employees as they did in the past [4].
This is most noticeable in simple and repetitive tasks like data input, customer support, and basic programming. These were the fields that new graduates would usually break into. Now we see AI taking over these roles, which in turn makes it difficult for young people to get their first job.
3. Why Entry-Level Jobs Are Most Affected?
Entry-Level Work: Traditionally, most entry-level positions have been typically routine. Most examples are easily learned or performed by artificial intelligence (AI) [5]. Because of these characteristics of AI, companies utilize AI more frequently because it has a faster response time, doesn’t tire, or have ongoing training costs.
This trend is contributing to a lot more entry-level joblessness among recent graduates [6]. Many graduates (12+ years) are finding it increasingly difficult to obtain job offers. Companies used to hire graduates and train them; however, they are now very selective in hiring individuals who possess these same skills and experience.

While at the entry level we see unemployment rise, there is still hope for those who are willing to adapt and learn.
6. The Coming of Lower-Level Jobs
The world of work in the future will see great change from what we see today. We may see basic roles decline, but at the same time new positions will appear [11].
The issue is that the types of jobs in the future will require a higher level of skill from the start. Instead of working our way up from simple tasks, we may begin our careers at a higher level of responsibility.
This means that what we teach in schools and what we put into research and development also change; it is very important at this point in time for us to focus on skill development [12]. Also, we as an educational system should look to update our methods of instruction so that what we are putting out into the workforce is prepared for the real world. Practical skills will take a front seat over theory.
7. Summary
At present AI job displacement is a large-scale issue in the job market [13]. It is reducing the number of entry-level jobs and at the same time increasing entry-level unemployment, which is very much the case with young people. But that isn’t the full story; we also see that it is creating new opportunities for those that are willing to learn and adapt.
The key to success in this new environment is to be a lifelong learner and to develop your skills. Although the situation is tough, also it is a chance to grow and build a better future.
